Extracellular Recordings from Different Types of Vagal Respiratory Neurones of the Cat

Abstract
Spontaneous imulse discharges were recorded from single vagal respiratory neurones to the lungs of cats. The respiratory neurones impulse discharges frequency together with the respiratory cycle were classified according to discharge pattern.
Type I : Thease had a mean conduction velocity of 46m/sec. Their impulse discharges were regular from start to end in the inspiration.
Type II : Thease had a conduction velocity of 69m/sec. Their impulse discharges were only in the inspiration and the frequency peak at the start of inspiration.
Type :III Thease had a mean conduction velocity of 64m/sec. Their impulse discharges were peak at middle of inspiration. The impulse discharges of thease type were also in the only inspiration.
Type 1V Thease had a mean conduction velocity of 54m/sec. Their impulse discharges were continuous from inspiration to expiration.
